Mandala garden

A mandala layout focusing on native plants, along with some herbs for Seng Kang Secondary School. The planting list was provided by the school. We advised on the positions of the plants by taking into account the immediate microclimates and also how compatible the different species could be, growing together. We built a herb spiral for the first time here, stacking bricks to form the spiral without any cement. The herb spiral provided several microclimates within that small area; rosemary was planted right on top where it had the most sun as well as the best drainage, mint was planted where it could be wetter while also getting enough sunlight, while sawtooth coriander was placed where it was most shaded. It worked really well!
